Honey, soy sauce, and garlic are the whole recipe. The chicken is just the thing they cling to. If those three bottles are already in the cupboard, dinner is a skillet and a timer.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb chicken thighs
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Black pepper

Rice or a bag of frozen broccoli on the side is the usual move. Neither is required for the sauce.

Method

  1. Pat the chicken dry and season with black pepper.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high. Brown the thighs, about 5 minutes per side. Set them aside.
  3. Lower the heat. Add the garlic and stir for 20 seconds. Pour in the honey and soy sauce and scrape the pan.
  4. Return the chicken and simmer, turning once, until the sauce is sticky and the chicken is cooked through, 6 to 8 minutes.
  5. Spoon the glaze over the top. Serve with rice if you have it.

Why it works in PantryZero

Honey, soy sauce, garlic, and oil are catalog staples. The matching engine will treat this as almost a complete pantry cook; chicken is the only grocery-list item if the fridge is empty of protein.
